Think ultimate grandeur, think pride and prejudice and you’re not far off the image of one of Glasgow’s architectural jewels The Trades Hall. This merchant city building is a lasting piece of history from the days of Glasgow’s merchant dominance. Oozing class and elegance it is a real treat just to visit and witness the interior never mind host an event.

Weddings at The Trades Hall are always a spectacular occasion. Walking in from Glassford street you are met with a red carpet which leads to the imposing staircase up to the grand hall. This room is quite something with massive chandeliers hanging from the dramatic domed ceiling and large paintings of past deacon conveners and influential Glasgow merchants. Both wedding ceremonies and receptions can take place at the venue with the adjoining Saloon a popular choice for ceremonies. As well as the large Grand Hall there is a smaller events space downstairs in the Reception Room which has been newly refurbished. This is perfect for more intimate events or for drinks receptions prior to moving up to the main hall. This room even featured on BBCs The Apprentice, set up as an art gallery!

Our Uplighting Backdrop

Although brimming in history, recent refurbs have brought the Trades Hall in line with others with a new lighting system, air conditioning and top of the range sound system which has been done in a subtle way, highlighting the buildings outstanding features at the same time. There is no lack of great picture backdrops not least the huge windows, one of which opens up onto the balcony at the front of the building. This is always a hit for wedding couples to get that must have shot together on the main balcony and often with their guests below on the street.

The hardworking and friendly staff keep up the high standards the venue deserves and the catering is some of the best you’ll find for a city centre venue. We have worked with The Trades Hall for some time now and we never take for granted the stunning surroundings that serve as our office for that day. Weddings are special, parties are memorable and corporate events are upmarket. Christmas time is a highlight of the year and for many an opportunity to experience this grand venue for the first time.

For anyone in search of a spectacular venue but not wanting to venture outside of the city, The Trades Hall is a standout choice. Enjoy a mixture of history, luxury and grandeur all in one and have your guests raving about your occasion for a long time to come. You might even brush up on your local history whilst you’re there!
