This review is a bit different as this venue was actually my own wedding venue in May 2018. Now that may make me a tad biased however anyone who has had the pleasure of visiting or staying at Lochgreen House Hotel in Troon will know what an impressive place it is.

One side of the hotel is nestled in amongst a small area of woodland whilst the other faces out to sea, overlooking the famous Royal Troon golf links. Upon entering the grounds the first thing that strikes you is how well maintained the gardens are. Not a strand of grass out of place and every inch of soil raked. The front of the building has a majestic bandstand and a fountain flowing at the main entrance. A beautiful setting for an outdoor ceremony.

Manicured Lawns

Once entering the hotel there is no doubt this is a venue of the highest standard. Every person greeted personally by the doorman, jackets collected and for weddings champagne on arrival. The function room has just recently been refurbished with fresh white decor and equipped with a modern bar area. One brand new development is the adjoining glasshouse Orangery which will accommodate smaller private functions. Perhaps the clinching factor for myself and my wife in choosing Lochgreen was the seaside location with the outdoor area the perfect place for guests to congregate, have a chat and a drink and break up what can be a long day. Troon is a delightful little town and although we chose not to, some couples head to the beach for pictures after the ceremony. We were very lucky to be graced with a sunny day and had the very talented singer Katee Kross & guitarist Ross Barron playing to everyone whilst we got our pictures taken in the hotel grounds.

The staff were so helpful on the day, the wedding coordinator even greeting us with a glass of bubbly as we arrived in the wedding car. In fact everything about Lochgreen is top class including the level of dining and our wedding meal was no exception. An outstanding 3 courses with the highlight for me being the chocolate brownie and banana milkshake dessert!

Night time brings a whole new vibe to the function room, candlelit and with the added touch of our own Uplighting it really set the room off for what was a night of constant dancing and celebration from our guests. (Below image before the refurb)

Our Uplighting

We had the treat of having the massive honeymoon suite for a night including our own balcony and the following morning the huge selection at the breakfast buffet was just what was needed to start us off on our first day of marriage. Some didn’t quite make it down on time!

We would have no hesitation in recommending Lochgreen House Hotel for a wedding or event. There are very few venues in the country which can offer such luxury alongside the perfect seaside location. We had the best day of our lives and it really is the perfect place for a wedding…..but then again I may be biased!
